Football
fans write and present
their own half hour
show featuring the work
of 12 fans who answered
a “606”
appeal for original
football stories written
by listeners to the
UK’s top football
phone-in. The project,
launched in partnership
with the BBC reading
and writing campaign
RAW, set out to collect
six hundred-and-six
football stories by
the end of the season.
But after just 10 weeks,
more than 980 entries
had flooded in. The
stories cover the gamut
of supporters’
experiences –
the perils of away travel,
bizarre Sunday League
injuries, poignant memories
of past players, unexpected
encounters with football
heroes, family football
traditions and unforgettable
games.
